RIDGID R4123 Review – Is It Value For Money?

RIDGID R4123 Review

Need a thorough Ridgid R4123 review? Here you have it! R4123 is gaining a rising popularity and among Ridgid’s best-seller line-up. Its convenient portability and superior blade speed have amazed many consumers.

However, there are still some not-so-good points to improve. My review will look at both upsides and downsides to help you have the best buying decision.

I’ve mapped out key features of the miter saw below.

Who Is This Miter Saw For?

Do you frequently move from place to place for work? The R4123’s lightweight will be of great assistance. Ridgid’s machine is also a nice option if you desire to finish a high volume of woodwork in a relatively short time.

Powerful

A 15-amp motor gears up the R4123 miter saw. With this fantastic electric engine, I was able to give out pretty smooth and clear cuts.

Most of Ridgid’s products deliver a lot of power in the cutting, and R413 is not an exception. It can work on the thickest lumbers, such as hardwood, maple, or white oak.

Compact Design

I have to say that 24-pound weight is incredible, particularly for such a powerful machine, like the Ridgid R4123. You will find it extremely easy to carry this saw to the job site.

Measuring a dimension of 27.5 x 16.5 x 20 inches, the manual R4123 is compact enough to fit into hard corners. The decent size allowed me to put it into my tool bags comfortably. I couldn’t witness this portability using a bigger miter saw.

High Blade Speed

RIDGID R4123 Review

Blade speed is one of the strongest selling points of the Ridgid miter saw. This device generates a revolution of 4000 RPM at no-load condition, far better than its prior models.

The R413 is superbly time-sufficient. Its high blade speed assisted me greatly in completing loads of wood tasks in a fairly short time.

On-point Exactness

There is a switch on top of the saw handle that activates a red LED light. This LED lighting illuminates the saw’s blade, showing a cut line on the material. This point is one of my features of choice on dual bevel miter saws.

Unlike the laser, a LED working light doesn’t need calibrations to work on every blade. Users can still identify the cut line as well as illuminate the cutting process with high accuracy.

I tried and worked easily in the dim light condition. The built-in LED light allowed me to watch the cuts clearly without getting closer to the saw.

Effective Dust Collection

Another factor that readers may take into account in this Ridgid R4123 review is the cleaning. Believe me! You’ll go nuts about this glide saw’s dust collection system.

It features a built-in vacuum adapter and a dust port, which diverts the dust away and picks them up when the saw is running. This integral clean-up system will bring about added accuracy and effectiveness during the cutting process.

What Needs Improvement?

Minor Errors

While activating this saw, I could experience a vibration and mild wobble to the right side. The vibration sound may come from the gears connecting the motor to the arbor shaft assembly.

Don’t worry! The noise is not worth minding. You can still run the machine without bothering your nearby neighbors.

Major Errors

I consider safety a noteworthy drawback of the Ridgid R4123. The saw lacks an electric braking system. In other words, you can’t stop the blade’s rotation in seconds. In some emergency cases, this can be a problem.

Besides, the saw’s cutting capacity (2×8-inch at 90° and 2×6-inch at 45°) is not as wide as I expected. In one cross-cutting at the 90-degree angle, I received a square with a medium dimension. Indeed, large projects do not apply to this Ridgid’s device.

Ridgid R4123 Alternatives

DeWalt DWS780 and Hitachi C10FCG are two reasonable alternatives as they share the same qualities at the same price as the Ridgid R413.

DeWalt DWS779 and Bosch GCM12SD can be the outperformers over the Ridgid R413 while being sold at a similar price. Although they may be slightly heavier, the mentioned miter saws give out greater durability, large cutting capacity, and a safe braking system.
