Differences Between DeWalt DWS779 vs DWS780

DeWalt is known for its durability and sufficiency in its miter saws. Thus, both DeWalt DWS780 and DWS779 have a high performance and sleek design. However, the problem is they can be too similar to tell the difference.

Precision Rate

The precision of both products is surprisingly amazing due to the metric rulers and their positive stops at several degrees (0°, 22.5°, 33.9°, 45°, 49°). As their blade can change the angle 60 degrees to the right and 50 degrees to the left, the miter saw allows you to produce the most precise cut on your wood.

However, DeWalt enhances the precision even further with the DWS780. Inside the blade, there is a LED light which is the star of the XPS cross-cut alignment system.

This LED work light shines and casts a blade shadow on the workpiece that shows exactly where the blade will touch the material. This simple touch of convenience outshines any laser-products on the market and undoubtedly beats the DWS779.

Materials and Designs

When it comes to designs, DeWalt products use their trademark color: black and yellow colors outlook. At a glance, DeWalt DWS780 and DWS779 look like twins.

Surprisingly, at the same weight of 56 pounds, DeWalt DWS 780 is slightly bigger than DeWalt DWS779. However, the difference is too minor to notice.

As DeWalt keeps a standard for all products, the material for both of these products are stainless steel and aluminum, which are extremely durable to work on heavy load tasks.

Power

When I say they are extremely identical, I am not joking at all. Both products have the capability of exceeding your expectation with their high performance. With 1,675 wattage and a 3800 RPM motor, they are the best miter saw, ensuring there is no hardwood that they cannot cut through.

Blades

The most important part of a miter saw is its blade. As DeWalt is known to deliver the best sharp and strong blade in their saw products, there is no doubt that the DeWalt DWS779 and DWS780 possess high-quality blades. Their 12 inches blade are made of carbide with 60 teeth to cut wood and its derivatives smoothly.

The blade can also change the direction and angle easily due to the dual bevel. This is a beautiful feature that allows you to work smoothly without pauses to push a heavy machine to the right cutting angle.

Additional Features

There seems to have been an upgrade for additional features in both products. The DWS series are all equipped with safety systems, including a blade guard and positive stops. The transparent blade guard covers the rotating disk during working to prevent injuries and debris.

Another standard feature is their dust control system which suction all the debris during work. However, the suction rate is only 75% of the particles, so I would not say it is the most efficient feature to have.

Packages

Both products come with a machine, a blade wrench, a material clamp, and an instruction manual.
