My Delta S26-272L review will thoroughly analyze both upsides and downsides of the product. You can count on it to weigh up the right buying choice.
S26-272L is a professional compound miter saw, appealing to many customers recently. This model is renowned for its generous cutting capacity and reliable safety. Besides, there are also some drawbacks to take into consideration.
Below I’ve mapped out key features of the saw.
Who Is This Miter Saw For?
S26-272L is literally for those who are looking for a safe and secure miter saw. I bet you’ll be nuts about its safety features. Also, are you often in charge of large projects? Then the Delta’s machine will have you covered.
A 15-amp motor gears up the miter saw, providing any cut with powerful driving force. With this amazing electric engine, I was able to smoothly perform pretty fresh and clear cuts.
Delta rarely introduces to the public a product without power-efficiency, and this one is not an exception. It has a good head at working on the thickest materials, like plywood, beech, or Sapele.
Should you frequently have to move your tool from room to room or from job to job, the S26-272L’s portability should be the feature you value most. Although this 47.8-pound saw is not as lightweight as some competitive models, it’s still on the handy side.
Measuring a dimension of 33 x 22 x 19.4 inches, the device doesn’t take up much space – an ideal unit for any small workshop. Thanks to the compact design, it can fit comfortably in your tool bag as you’re on the go.
Large Cutting Capacity
Generally, the larger the blade diameter, the wider the plumbers you’ll be able to deal with. I believe S26-272L’s 12-inch blade will please any fastidious carpenter.
The miter saw generates a cutting capacity of 4×14 inches at 0°, 4×10 inches at 45°, and a maximum of 13.5 inches at 90°. I tried cross-cutting a lump of wood and got a large workpiece as expected.
Not only is the huge capacity perfect for basic jobs but also for large-scale operations. Opting for a big-blade sliding saw will save you a fortune in the long term, as it covers the smaller workpieces as well.
Effective Dust Extraction
Do you care about the clean-up during and after work? This may be the part you’re keen on in my Delta S26-272L review.
The tool is incorporated with a dust port connected to the adequately-sized vacuum adapter. The system diverts the debris spraying around and picks them up when the saw is running.
This cleaning function will add effectiveness and exactness to your cutting. Also, it keeps your work area dust-free (or with minimal debris count) and makes the air around you and your children healthier.
The S26-272L compound glide saw features an electric braking system, which stops the blade’s rotation in a few seconds. In some emergency cases, it can deter blade damage or human injuries.
Particularly, the brake becomes useful when used for repetitive cutting. When you make a successive cut, the blade will stop instantly so that you can go on the next cut. This electric brake is extremely time-efficient when it comes to doing a high volume of work and keeping up with tight deadlines.
What Needs Improvement?
When activating the saw, I found it a bit distracting because of the sound. Although I could run it without bothering nearby neighbors, the unit’s noise level is still relatively high compared to other products in the same class.
Basically, the more lightweight miter saws are usually more portable, but also less durable. Since S26-272L is on the handy side, I didn’t hope it to be much sturdy built.
However, I could even experience a slight vibration when I position the machine on a workbench. If this unit were more stable, it could nearly be a flawless sliding saw in my opinion.
Delta S26-272L Alternatives
DeWalt DWS779 and Bosch CGM12SD can gain the ground on Delta’s miter saw while being sold at the same price point. Although they may lack portability, the two miter saws above offer greater durability, nice noise comfort, and a safe LED lighting system.
